Each spring YMCA Earth Service Corps hosts an Environmental Symposium with the goal of educating and empowering high school youth about local environmental issues. The Symposium consists of a series of 50 minute hands-on workshops that inform teens about environmental topics and encourages them to address local environmental issues through meaningful action. This year, at the request of our youth leaders, we are seeking workshop proposals from our many community partners. YESC youth will review the proposals and make workshop selections based on their interests and passions.
This year’s event will take place on Friday, March 25 from 8:30-1:30 at the University of Washington’s Mary Gates Hall. Both indoor lecture space and outdoor areas will be available to presenters. Each workshop will be capped at a maximum of 25 high school students, ages 13-18, from schools throughout the Puget Sound region. We are seeking hands-on, engaging workshops that will educate and excite youth about the many environmental topics relevant to our community.
Organizations are welcome, and encouraged, to submit multiple workshop proposals and some workshops may be offered multiple times during the day based on the level of youth interest. If you have questions or would like further information, please contact Chelsey Wheeler, YESC Director, at email@example.com or 206.466.1048. Thank you in advance for your support in educating and empowering local teens as they become a new generation of environmental stewards. Complete proposals must be received by Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
