CAL Tech I Position Description

Description:

The CAL Tech I position will support the Computer Applications Lab for Scientific Computing which focuses on the sciences at The Evergreen State College. This position hires both work-study and non-work-study students. Hours are flexible: 0-20/week non-work study, or 0-19/week with work-study.

Position Summary:

CAL Tech I position can be broken down into three areas of duties & responsibilities:

1. End-User Support

  • help desk;
  • answering the phone;
  • provide assistance to students with computer use;
  • research solutions that students encounter with software.

2. Operations

  • opening/closing the CAL;
  • cleaning and tidying up;
  • maintaining printers by replenishing supplies;
  • lost-and-found; create tickets, organize items, etc.;
  • maintain class scheduling by updating whiteboards and Google calendars;
  • Deliver/Pickup Chromecart.

3. Professional Development

  • You may work on schoolwork, or other projects, while waiting to help students.

Qualifications:

  • must be an Evergreen student enrolled in at least 4 undergraduate credits, or 2 graduate credits;
  • Basic computer skills. (If you’ve been using a computer the last few years, you have basic computing skills).
