You will independently conduct ongoing recruiting functions including but not limited to writing and posting job announcements, screening, referring applicants, and maintaining recruitment records.

Picture yourself participating in recruitment strategies for various outreach events and participating as a member of the recruiting team at virtual and live job fairs, and other hiring, career, and educational events. With your experience you will provide expert level consultation to staff, managers, job applicants and students. Provide guidance to HR staff on recruitment, selection, outreach, inclusion, and diversity. As such, this position is expected to remain knowledgeable about areas of expertise and communicate advice and guidance professionally and effectively. Duties
Here is some of what our Talent Acquisition Specialist will do,

  • Provide consulting in areas of, recruitment, selection, affirmative action, diversity, and career counseling.
  • Review position descriptions and required qualifications for accuracy and work with hiring managers and HR Consultants to update as needed.
  • Achieve staffing objectives by recruiting and evaluating job candidates and consulting with hiring managers.
  • Develop, create, and maintain recruitment announcements, questionnaires, and bid notifications with assistance and input from supervisors and managers to align with position description. 
  • Provide guidance to hiring managers, employees, and applicants regarding recruitment status, policies and procedures, applicable areas of the collective bargaining agreements, civil service rules, and other state and federal laws such as American Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and Title VII. 
  • Attract diverse applicant pools through outreach utilizing social media, job fairs, education, and training. 
  • Assist Supervisor with internship/volunteer programs.
  • Attend recruitment hiring events, job fairs, and outreach programs virtual or in person.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Work Setting, including hazards:    
    1. Office setting, at a personal computer majority of the day – telework options may be available.
  • Schedule:
    1. Typically, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 
    2. Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours.
  • Travel Requirements:   
    1. Occasional local or state-wide travel to attend meetings, trainings, or job fairs.      
  • Customer Interactions: 
    1. Daily Teams, phone, and video interaction with WDFW staff and interacting with the public.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four (4) years of professional (paid) level experience engaged in Human Resources or a similar field doing equivalent work. 
    1. With at least two (2) years of experience in Recruiting.  
      • This experience may be concurrent with the required four (4) years of experience noted above.

Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Possess advanced creative writing and grammar skills for drafting recruitments and marketing of positions as well as other professional written communications.
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Microsoft Publisher or other graphic software.
  • Outward focused and can communicate clearly with a friendly demeanor to customers.
  • Highly organized in their work and can demonstrate efficiency.
  • Experience using social media including, but not limited to LinkedIn for building diversity and inclusion and sourcing applicants and building professional relationships related to WDFW activities.

Certifications/Licenses: 

  • Valid Driver’s License. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Management, Business, or a related field.

          AND 

  • Four (4) years of professional (paid) level experience engaged in Human Resources or a similar field doing equivalent work. 
    1. With at least two (2) years of experience in Recruiting.  
      • This experience may be concurrent with the required four (4) years of experience noted above.

Intermediate to advanced experience working with: 

  • State of Washington Human Resource Management System (HRMS) systems and processes.
  • State of Washington NeoGov (Online Recruiting System) systems and processes.

Competencies:

  • Intermediate or advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of LEAN principles and understands how to implement it in workflow.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s), civil service rules, and other state and federal laws such as American Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Title VII, and Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures (UGESP).
