Description:
How do we build trust, restore and repair lives? Many communities are threatened by policies of disinvestment, leading to displacement, and oftentimes despair and violence. Our children and families experience the brunt of these conditions. Dialogue around Restorative and Transformational Justice must ensure that communities who are most impacted by our juvenile and adult sentencing laws are at the table, as well prioritize how we support and include our black, brown and poor communities. This extremely timely conversation, inspired by the powerful documentary film, SINCE I BEEN DOWN, will encourage all of us to reimagine how we support ALL children and position ourselves for a new future.
Joining Director Gilda Sheppard will be:
- Angela Davis, Distinguished Professor Emerita, University of CA, Santa Cruz
- Dan Satterberg, King County (WA) Prosecutor
- Robert “Saleem” Holbrook, Executive Director of Abolitionist Law Center
SINCE I BEEN DOWN will begin streaming at DOCNYC, America’s largest documentary film festival. Buy tickets here: https://www.docnyc.net/film/since-i-been-down/
