I would like to encourage students to consider studying the pre and post impacts of fish passage projects on freshwater mega fauna using scientific techniques gleaned from the literature with statistical analysis and controls. There are many examples in the scientific literature. WSDOT can provide the dates and locations of projects so that students can visit sites and take samples that will provide information on both the positive and negative effects of fish passage work on macroinvertebrates and potentially water quality as well. I would encourage students to consider publication in Northwest Scientist or other regional scientific literature.
