From the moment she heard about the State of Emergence in Trinidad, Sarah Williams worked tirelessly to pivot our program and provide us with a full, engaging, exciting, and educational quarter. Sarah’s passion and fervor prevailed! If it weren’t for her, we all would have spent the quarter in other programs back in Washington, with the loss of time, money, and life-changing experiences. Endless gratitude to our dear professor and fearless leader.
Dr. Dexter Gordon
A huge component of the successful pivot to Jamaica is credited to Dr. Gordon, native Jamaican and Executive Vice-President of Evergreen. Dr. Gordon tapped into his background in African American Studies and Communication Studies and added an element of Caribbean Studies (and a reggae band) to our program that hadn’t previously existed. We are grateful to have had his guidance before, during, and after our trip to Jamaica.
