Visiting Scholars

The Washington Center invites educators and researchers with an interest in the Center’s programs or the unique pedagogies and programs of The Evergreen State College to submit a proposal to join us as a visiting scholar.

Visiting Scholars have the opportunity to engage with faculty, staff, and students at The Evergreen State College as well as the Washington Center’s national collaborative through a range of activities including:

  • Interviews and focus groups
  • Facilitating in-person or virtual workshops
  • Attending campus events
  • Class observations
  • Guest lectures
  • Opportunity to publish in the Washington Center Collaborative newsletter and/or The Learning and Teaching Commons newsletter

The Washington Center does not provide funding for visiting scholars at this time. The Center provides the following services and support for visiting scholars:

  • Promotion of events related to the visiting scholar’s work
  • Office space
  • Coordination of schedule including scheduling meetings with faculty, staff, and/or student groups aligned with the scholar’s work

Visiting Scholars can be onsite for one week up to one month. The Washington Center can host one visiting scholar per academic quarter (fall, winter, spring).
