  • EM PS#12: Griffiths: 8.1 (just for Ex. 7.13), 8.2, 8.4(b), 8.6, 8.7, 8.8, 8.9, 8.10(a), 8.13, 8.14, 8.17, 8.22. Notes: for 8.1, just do for the situation in Example 7.13; for 8.10(a), review Example 6.1; for 8.13, review Example 5.6; for 8.17, review Example 5.11 and Problem 5.37, and for part (b), note a correspondence with Problem 8.10(a) – this problem has a nice connection with a discussion in QM Ch. 1.
  • QM PS#9: Townsend: 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.7, 7.12, 7.13

  • I’ve added notes to your Collaborative Problem Set Solutions for EM PS#11 (stay tuned) and QM PS#8; please recall that you need to be logged in to access these.
  • Please compare the solutions in your Problem Set Notebook to these solutions, updating or correcting as you need to. If you disagree or would like further clarification, please send me an email.
  • I’ll do a spot check of your QM PSN for QM PS#7 and PS#8, so please bring with you and leave on the front table in the CAL.

  • EM PS#11: Griffiths: 7.34, 7.35, 7.36, 7.38, 7.44, 7.49, 7.50, 7.55. Notes: For 7.44(d), you might find the last result in Ex 5.11 useful. For 7.55, you’ll find eq (7.27) useful.
  • QM PS#8: Townsend: 6.13, 6.14, 6.15, 6.16, 6.17(b)(c), 6.19; 6.21, 6.22, 6.23, 6.24. Notes: for 6.14, review how to calculate uncertainty (e.g. eqs (6.70)-(6.72)). You did 6.17(a) last week. Problems 6.19, 6.20, and 6.21 go together; you were able to complete 6.20 last week.
