Rosalie A, Richards
Associate Provost for Faculty Development
Stetson University
Deland, FL

Prior to joining Stetson University in 2014, I served in several capacities at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA. I was the first Kaolin-Endowed Chair in Science Education and Georgia Eminent Scholar as well as professor of chemistry. As kaolin chair, I became the founding director of the award-winning Science Education Center, with oversight of several university and university-community partnerships instrumental in collaboratively soliciting over $10 million. At Spelman College, I was the first NASA-National Science Foundation Model institutions for Excellence Scholar-Teacher in Chemistry which is where my interests in equity and pedagogy in higher education began to blossom.

As associate provost at Stetson, I am responsible for leading all aspects of teacher-scholar faculty development and support, with a focus on enhancing excellence and innovation in learning and facilitating an inclusive learning environment of intellectual vibrancy. This ranges from faculty development to international learning and undergraduate research to online learning.

I am an island girl from Antigua, a small country in the eastern Caribbean. I earned my BSc in chemistry with physics at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas and my PhD at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. I also completed a certificate in project management from the Keller Graduate School of Management. I enjoy working with faculty and students and loved teaching chemistry and conducting undergraduate research with students. I’m thrilled to be at NSILC.
