Director, Learning Communities
Iowa State University
Ames, IA

As the Director of Learning Communities, I provide administrative leadership of over ninety learning community options at Iowa State University. I began my career in higher education as a graduate assistant for Learning Communities and the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at ISU in 2004. Upon completion of my Master’s degree in 2005, I became the program coordinator for Learning Communities and served in this role until being named Director in 2018. In addition to my administrative role, I have served as an instructor for a Strengths-Based Leadership course for peer mentors, and have led a Beatles seminar and study abroad course for the past six years.

I earned my B.S. in Child and Family Services, my M.F.C.S. with specialization in Gerontology, and my PhD in Human Development and Family Studies all at Iowa State University. My dissertation was centered on transfer student learning community experiences and promising practices among transfer learning community programs.

This is my first opportunity to visit the Washington Center and I am thrilled to work with our national leaders in Learning Communities!
