The assessment of student learning outcomes is typically identified with accountability and driven by accreditation demands. Those are important, certainly. But how can assessment be a more powerful engine for improving what matters most: the quality of the student learning experience? This session will be a chance to explore this $64,000 question by looking at recent trends in both assessment and professional development and how those are shaping new partnerships, collaborations, and structures. We will share a number of promising campus examples, and invite further ideas from your setting for positioning assessment in ways that truly foster a culture of teaching and learning on your campus.
