Location: Thurston, Lewis, and Mason Counties, Washington (hybrid/flexible depending on
projects)
Time Commitment: Approximately 8–12 hours per week during the academic quarter

Position Overview
The Thurston Lewis Mason Central Labor Council (TLMCLC) is seeking a motivated college
intern interested in labor organizing, political advocacy, communications, and community
engagement. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting organized labor and union
initiatives across the South Sound region.
The intern will work on major council initiatives including the political campaign cycle, labor
communications campaigns, and the South Sound Labor School which is held at TESC. This
position is ideal for students interested in politics, public policy, communications, labor studies,
organizing, or community leadership.

Key Responsibilities
● Support labor-focused political and electoral campaign activities
● Assist with communications projects, including social media, newsletters, press
materials, and outreach campaigns
● Help coordinate events, trainings, and educational programming for the South Sound
Labor School
● Conduct research on labor, political, and community issues affecting working people
● Assist with meeting preparation, logistics, and administrative support
● Engage with union affiliates, community partners, and volunteers
● Attend labor council meetings, trainings, and selected community events as available
Desired Qualifications
● Current college student or recent graduate
● Interest in labor unions, worker rights, public policy, or community organizing
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively
● Organizational skills and attention to detail
● Experience with social media, graphic design, event planning, or political campaigns is a
plus but not required
● Commitment to equity, solidarity, and supporting all working people
