Photoland (PL) provides academic and photo production support for the Evergreen State College, but is also open to any student, staff, faculty, and the Olympia Community at large.
Job duties for PL student workers include:
- Maintaining the analog and digital facilities.
- Keeping spaces organized and tidy.
- Lab scheduling.
- Providing equipment instruction and space proficiencies.
- Setting up and breaking down studio spaces prior to and after use.
- Providing support and guidance to fellow students and community members regarding photography-related activities.
- Ensuring that patrons are following the policies and procedures of their workspaces.
- Connecting patrons with additional support as needed.
- Intake of new digital print and film processing work orders.
- Communication with patrons regarding the status of their orders.
- Maintaining organization of order tracking data.
- Film processing and digital printing of weekly orders.
- Communication with supervisors regarding the status of ongoing orders.
- Providing support for classes and workshops within our space
Previous experience working with or studying photography & media is helpful. Photoland provides training for all employees in weekly training sessions. This position is for the fall, winter and spring quarters of the 25-26 school year.
All PL student employees are required to be able to regularly attend a weekly meeting and training:
- PL Student Training: 2-3:30 pm on Wednesdays
- PL Student Meeting: 3:30-4pm on Wednesdays
Hours and Pay
- PL student employees work between 10 – 19 hours per week.
- Pay starts at $17.49/hour.
- Work study is welcome but not required.

- Familiarity with analog and digital photographic practices and procedures preferred. Strong interest and willingness to learn will be considered.
