Organizer:

Eric Garza, PhD: Part-time faculty, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, University of Vermont

For those who are interested, I am organizing a reading group around Robin Wall Kimmerer‘s beautiful book Braiding Sweetgrass.

The group’s orientation is scheduled for July 11 at 11:00 am Eastern Daylight Time. We start discussing the book on the weekend of July 24, meeting once at 7:00 pm EDT on Saturday and then again at 11:00 am EDT on Sunday. These two discussion times should allow most folks in the Americas, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand to participate at reasonable times of day where they live. Zoom meetings will be recorded and made available afterwards. We meet at those same times every other weekend until we finish the book later in September.

Participation in this reading group is by donation, and folks can register at no cost if they wish to. Visit this link to learn more and to sign up.

While I do hope the reading group generates some much-needed income for me, I will not keep all of it. I will donate ten percent of the revenue to an organization that supports indigenous issues. I reached out to Robin Wall Kimmerer to see if she has a preference for which organization receives this donation. If she voices a preference, that organization will receive it. If not, I will donate to Landback.org, a project of the NDN Collective that supports indigenous land repatriation in North America.
