Salary- $5,102.00 – $6,691.00 Monthly
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Ph.D. degree in ecology/wildlife/zoology and/or statistics/applied math.

OR

  • A Master’s degree in ecology/wildlife/zoology or statistics/applied math with emphasis on animal population biology, or closely allied field. 

     AND 

  • Two (2) years of professional experience designing statistical or mathematical research in population biology or population management or designing and conducting wildlife studies. 
  • Two (2) articles published or in-press in the refereed literature (one article must be as senior author, the second article must be as senior or secondary author).

In addition, all candidates are expected to have:

  • Advanced statistics and data analysis experience including the ability to develop and not just apply analytical methods.
  • Strong understanding of statistical fundamentals in the areas of population estimation, population dynamics, spatial statistics, energetics and diet reconstruction, and the influence of habitat on all the above.
  • Strong foundation in research, survey, and sampling design.
  • Programming skills (e.g., R, SAS, JAGs, Bugs, or C++, etc.).
  • An understanding of best practices in data management.
  • Advanced knowledge in a recognized area of animal ecology.
  • Experience leading large research projects and conducting wildlife research in the field.
  • Skilled in advising managers and addressing management questions in an effective diplomatic manner.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Two (2) years of professional experience designing statistical or mathematical research in population biology or population management or designing and conducting wildlife research studies.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Statistical consulting experience.
