Job Description:

The Biology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a one-year full time visiting assistant professor position in Marine Biology beginning Fall 20022. Applicants with interests across any area of Marine Biology are encouraged to apply. Specific teaching needs at this time are in the area of Marine Invertebrate Biology (lecture and lab), General Biology, and Introductory Marine Science (for non-majors). The position will support the concentration in Marine Biology within the Biology Program. The teaching load is four undergraduate courses each semester.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have completed a MS or Ph.D. in Biology or Marine Science, or who expect to receive their degree by Summer 2022. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, including experience teaching undergraduate laboratory sections. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed undergraduate/graduate courses in any area of Zoology or Marine Science and are able to teach both lecture and laboratory sections.

The department consists of fourteen full-time faculty representing a range of specialties and is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center. The biology department has a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty collaboration in research, several departmental events and guest lecturers.
