POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking 8-10 people to create a positive guest experience at our annual fall harvest festival, Oxtober. Every Saturday & Sunday throughout October, guests will have the opportunity to get to know Oxbow by engaging with the land and several fun activities such as: going on a self-guided tour, taking a hayride or playing educational games. There will also be a variety of vegetables, pumpkins, and native plants available for purchase.

Under the supervision of the Oxtober General Manager and Site Manager, Oxtober Staff will provide a welcoming experience for all guests. Oxtober staff will be available to help with a wide range of activities and tasks as needed, including Farmstand sales, children’s programming, maintaining the property, and more. We are a working farm in peak season and occasionally have the sudden need for helping hands in other capacities across the organization.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing exceptional customer service at points of sale and selling vegetables, pumpkins, native plants, and other items, using an iPad and Square system
  • Participating in Kids’ Farm Adventure programming as needed
  • Working with children and families as they participate in various activities, including the Pumpkin SlingKing
  • Setting up the Farmstand including signage and product display and keeping it stocked and inviting
  • Taking inventory, packing produce for storage, and closing the Farmstand for the day
  • Answering questions and directing public around the property
  • Helping maintain the property, ensuring it is clean and safe
  • Other harvesting and processing tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Friendly and personable
  • Comfortable with sales and customer service
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Good math skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Good communication skills
  • First-aid certification a plus
  • Flexible, creative, and able to perform well in diverse conditions and under pressure
  • Available every Saturday & Sunday throughout October

Additional desired qualities include: environmentally conscious, self-motivated, energetic, and professional.

COMPENSATION

These are seasonal, part-time positions, paying $15 per hour, although some leadership positions are available and will be compensated at a higher rate, depending on experience.
