Job Summary: The Yellowstone recruitment coordinator will contribute to strategic growth of EPI’s Yellowstone core programming through the development and fulfillment of relationships with local schools and programs. Their job duties will include cultivating and maintaining relationships with teachers and administrators, recruiting local Yellowstone program students, processing participant paperwork and tuition, and communicating with teachers, administrators, students, and student families pre- and post-course. The recruitment coordinator’s success will be a significant driver of this program’s increased and sustained impact on youth and, by association, their communities. The recruitment coordinator will share course implementation duties with other Yellowstone program staff, with a particular emphasis on supervising local courses.

The Yellowstone recruitment coordinator will also support the program supervisor in the design and implementation of programs aimed at expanding local student impacts and alumni engagement. These responsibilities will include coordinating the Bitterroot Wildlife Internship—the Yellowstone program’s summer internship for alumni—but could also entail aspects of online curriculum planning; developing partnerships with local organizations, schools, communities, and tribes; and new program design.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Prior experience in experiential, outdoor, or environmental education program;
  • Prior experience building meaningful, mutual partnerships with a wide variety of community partners—including other non-profits, Native-led organizations, federal, tribal, and state agencies, and school districts—to develop, recruit for, and deliver educational programming;
  • Knowledge of the ecology and rural social context of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE);
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with partners and students from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, and members of the LGBTQ+ community;
  • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal communication skills;
  • A punctual, detail-oriented, thorough, and independent approach to work while maintaining high level of initiative and flexibility;
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to capture a variety of age group audiences – middle schoolers to parents/school administrators;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Proficiency with Cloud-based task management and collaboration solutions;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours;
  • Willingness to travel to visit communities throughout Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming;
  • Ability to handle participant and organization information confidentially;
  • Minimum 21 years of age, with a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record;
  • Valid Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, or willingness to obtain;
  • English fluency;
  • Legally able to work in the US.
