Wildlife Rehabilitation Assistant            

This is a part-time hourly position. Position reports to the Director of Wildlife Rehabilitation. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

During their shift, the Rehabilitation Assistant will

  • Admit wildlife patients, perform triage and conduct physical exams
  • Perform daily animal care and husbandry including feeding, cleaning cages, and administering medications
  • Complete care and treatment records in both physical and digital forms
  • Lead volunteers and interns in completion of animal care and clinic support tasks, assign duties and oversee projects
  • Respond to emails and phone calls from members of the public, providing excellent client service and accurate education on wildlife issues

In general, the Rehabilitation Assistant will also

  • Assist the Director and Assistant Director in all aspects of running the Wildlife Clinic as requested by either.
  • Work with clinic staff to maintain and improve the Clinic’s physical facilities, inside and outdoors.
  • Participate in professional development and volunteer training as directed by the Director.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A passion for wildlife rehabilitation coupled with 6 months experience at a comparable clinic
  • Perform challenging work to a high standard, working both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • A college degree in a relevant/related field like environmental science is helpful, but not required.
