Job Description

The Wildlife and Range technician will conduct wildlife monitoring surveys, assist in the trapping and capturing of wildlife for research purposes, assist in conducting and compiling game censuses, operate and ensure proper maintenance of project vehicles and equipment and conduct habitat restoration activities. This could include: operating a chainsaw, prescribed burning, replanting and reseeding efforts, and herbicide application. The Wildlife and Range Tech position will aid in Range resource management including: assist in livestock depredation calls, enforcement of ordinances related to range, maintenance work on resource improvements such as fences, cattle guards, wells, pipelines and troughs, implement livestock disease control, assist in roundups, and help provide for livestock owner requests, and other duties, as assigned.
 
 
 
 

Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 pounds and hike 10 miles in a single day. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have capability to utilize common technology such as: iPads, GIS applications, survey applications, Microsoft Word and Excel. Some weekend and overnight work may be required. Work will occasionally occur outside of Warm Springs. Will be required to submit and pass a criminal background check with Federal, Tribal and State Law Enforcement.
