Immediate opening for a Wetland Ecologist
Talasaea Consultants, Inc. is an environmental planning and design firm seeking an experienced wetland ecologist to join our team of ecologists and landscape designers. Our projects range in size and complexity from multi-family and single-family residential communities, to retail, commercial, and industrial developments. Projects involve wetland and stream mitigation, including habitat creation, enhancement, and restoration; and site landscaping with the goal of integrating ecological components within the built environment. Our small office is situated in a beautiful natural setting in Woodinville, Washington.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team of ecologists and designers.
- Conducting field assessments and studies.
- Report and memo writing and technical editing for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies.
- Assisting with project schedule and budget tracking.
- Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather and terrain.
Qualifications include:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in ecology with a focus in wetland science, or closely related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in private sector environmental consulting.
- Working knowledge of local ecosystems, including: soil types, habitats, and native and invasive plant species.
- Experience in wetland determinations/delineations, stream delineations and typing; wetland ratings; functional assessments (e.g., credit-debit analysis); fish and wildlife habitat assessments and management plans; biological evaluations; and mitigation planning, design, and permitting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites.
- GIS experience a plus.
- PWS certification a plus.
