Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator 2

Do you have experience in water treatment regulations, tools, and techniques? Bring your expertise to Western State Hospital and the Child Study and Treatment Center as a Water Distribution Manager and help us deliver safe and clean water.

As the certified drinking water system operator, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the public water distribution system for these facilities.

Some of what you’ll do

  • Handle water rights, water line locations, regulatory compliance, and surface water/stormwater issues
  • Ensure operations and maintenance of the water distribution/treatment and sewage systems are completed in accordance with public health practices and water industry standards
  • Perform analytical testing of water treatment plant chemical operations for plant efficiency; adjust chlorination and water quality
  • Inspect plants and advise supervisors regarding maintenance, operations, and safety concerns
  • Recommend corrective actions; oversee preventative maintenance programs to the water distribution and treatment
  • Maintain charts and records
  • Prepare reports on water treatment plant operations

Who should apply?
Professionals with a current Washington State Certificate of Competency as a Water Distribution Manager II and a Certification in Cross Connection Control issued by the Washington State Department of Health

Desired

  • Three years of experience with drinking water standards and water sampling methods
  • Knowledge of water treatment methods, tools, and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and water distribution systems
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and policies
  • Ability to perform water sample tests; assess water distribution problems and recommend sound solutions; operate a variety of equipment
