This position plans, organizes, and coordinates the development, implementation, and ongoing operation of the Therapeutic Court Programs in Mason County Superior Court. Dependent on the task, will work as a member of a team or independently. Works within the community to build resources and educate providers and other entities regarding therapeutic court(s).

Examples of Duties
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.) Coordinates, schedules and oversees activities within each of the therapeutic courts to ensure efficient and effective program operation in compliance with department goals and legal requirements; coordinates work with multiple treatment providers to insure the timely submission of required reports. Researches and prepares program literature such as pamphlets, manuals, forms, handbooks, and procedures for each of the therapeutic courts. Researches and prepares applications for federal, state, and local grant funding opportunities and funding from other sources; ensure compliance with grant requirements; prepares required reports. Conducts research related to programs, best practices, and training in therapeutic courts.  Coordinates and facilitates training and professional development of team members and events such as graduation ceremonies. Serves as an active member of the Therapeutic Court team(s) and works closely with the judicial officer(s) to ensure policies are followed, participants’ needs are addressed and program standards are met; conducts participant program orientation and exit interviews; assists with skills training for participants; and collaborates with treatment providers to ensure community resources and service needs match desired program outcome. Serves as the key liaison for the Therapeutic Courts and manages resolution of inquiries, problems, complaints, or emergencies affecting availability or quality of services; resolves sensitive or complex inquiries or service complaints. Oversees the collection and recording of participant treatment compliance, and criminal history data; maintains database and records to document and monitor caseloads, client demographics, compliance, and program results. Prepares, organizes, and implements program budget, record keeping, and statistical information; monitors contracted service provider requirements and expenditures. Confers with various boards, officials, and professionals on the status of participants, and conducts home visits. Participates in networking with community agencies and developing relationships with stakeholders throughout the community through speaking engagements, participation on various committees and boards, and utilizing media resources. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Graduation from an accredited college or university OR work experience in a court environment involving case assessment, case management, interviewing, social service delivery, OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in Social Work
  • Licensure to practice counseling/mental health in WA state

Health Insurance – Regular full-time employees and their qualifying dependents are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Some regular part-time employees may receive the same coverage. Employees may partially contribute premiums depending upon the type of coverage selected.

Paid Leave – Sick leave, holidays, and vacation are provided in accordance with the County policy or union contracts. Vacation accrual rates increase at regular intervals based on the length of service with the County.

Retirement Plan – All regular Mason County employees are enrolled in the Washington State Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS, PSERS, or LEOFF). The County and employees contribute jointly to the plans.
