Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Equipment Specialist (Marine), you will perform the following duties:

  • Supervise the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of research fishing gear, including mobile, fixed, and survey support equipment.
  • Provide gear construction training and expert advice on research gear design and performance to science staff, fishing charter, research vessels, and other agencies.
  • Procure supplies as a government credit cardholder and conduct physical inventories of gear, including support survey equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and measurements on research fishing gear to certify to national standards.
