Summer Farm Camp Coordinator Position

Bethel School District is seeking candidates for two (2) temporary positions to support 2021 Summer Farm Camp Enrichment and Academic Programs. The Summer Programs will operate 6 – 8 weeks at the Bethel Farm and coordinators will work 6 – 8 hours/day.

The position will assume a leadership role in the Bethel Farm. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, preparing, and implementing four one-week Summer Farm Camp sessions for elementary students.
  • Assisting the Farm Manager in providing farm-based education to Kalapuya and Willamette High School summer interns.
  • Leading and providing summer camp counselor training, supervision, and feedback to Kalapuya and Willamette High School summer interns.
  • Developing and maintaining record keeping and reports.
  • Implementing and overseeing Farm to School field and food safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Factors:

  • Knowledge of educational programs offered in all schools and of basic educational techniques, as required by the position.
  • Knowledge of the basic developmental stages of a child’s learning process.
  • Ability to schedule the workload, manage time, and meet the needs of students, the school, or a program.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with small groups and individual students.
  • Ability to prepare materials for lesson plans and adapt, as needed, to meet the needs of students.
  • Ability to interact positively with children and adults, and observe individual student abilities.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, parents and co-workers.
  • Ability to safely and proficiently operate standard office and audio-visual equipment, as required by the position.
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate and legal level of confidentiality regarding students, staff, and other individuals.
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable and prompt attendance.

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or some college and relevant experience
  • Ability to implement Culturally Proficient skills and strategies
  • Successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks

Highly desirable qualifications:

  • Possess an Oregon Teaching License valid for assignment (for academic programs that offer credit)
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities, preferably Spanish/English
  • Experience working in richly diverse school communities and environments
  • Strong Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
  • Strong Knowledge of Response to Intervention strategies
