Salary- $48,156.00 – $63,216.00 Annually

What you will do: 

You will manage pass-through National Estuary Program Stormwater Strategic Initiative grants that are awarded to local partners in the Puget Sound region. To do this, you will:
 

  • Provide support to recipients on grant eligibility, administration, and record keeping requirements.  
  • Assist grant recipients with resolving audit questions and help them resolve issues or meet contract requirements. 
  • Develop individual grant agreements and amendments.
  • Provide quality assurance review of the negotiated project scope of work, budget, and special conditions to ensure grant integrity, eligibility of costs, and statewide consistency.
  • Evaluate financial and project tracking data to determine technical compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and certify grant payment requests for eligible costs. 
  • Plan, facilitate, or represent the program in public meetings and workshops, such as annual recipient training classes, and support other program presentations.

 

Qualifications

 

This is an In Training opportunity: The goal class for these positions is an Environmental Specialist 3 (ES3). We will consider applicants who meet the requirements at the ES1, ES2 and ES3 levels. If the finalist meets the requirements at the ES1 or ES2 level, they will be hired at that level and will be placed in a training program to become an ES3 within a specified period of time.  

Required Qualifications:
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.

At the Environmental Specialist 1 level: Range 45 ($3,096 – $4,013 per month) 

Option 1: 
 
Four (4) years of experience and/ or education:
 
  • Education: involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
  • Experience: in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning. 
Experience may include a combination of the following:
  • Providing oversight on or implementing financial assistance agreements
  • Implementing water quality improvement projects
  • Assisting local governments with community-based planning efforts

Option 2:

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.

  • Experience: in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning. 
Experience may include a combination of the following:
  • Providing oversight on or implementing financial assistance agreements
  • Implementing water quality improvement projects
  • Assisting local governments with community-based planning efforts

Option 2:

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
  • One (1) year of experience in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning, which may include experience as described in Option 1 above.

Option 3:

  • A Master’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.



At the Environmental Specialist 3 level: Range 49 ($4,013 – $5,268 per month) 
Option 1: 

Six (6) years of experience and/ or education:
 
  • Education: involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
  • Experience: in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning. 
Experience may include a combination of the following:
  • Providing oversight on or implementing financial assistance agreements
  • Implementing water quality improvement projects
  • Assisting local governments with community-based planning efforts

Option 2:

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning, which may include experience as described in Option 1 above.

Option 3:

  • A Master’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
  • One (1) year of experience in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning, which may include experience as described in Option 1 above.

Option 4:

  • A PhD involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
