Summary of Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor conservation easements throughout the United States, with a focus on the Eastern U.S., which can include extended travel by automobile to reach remote sites.
• Work closely with stewardship staff to ensure consistency with NALT’s high standards of data collection, records management, and monitoring report production.
• Assist with programming, management and maintenance of NALT’s Brinton Run Preserve, located in Chadds Ford Township.

Primary Duties:

• Establish and maintain good rapport with landowners and conservation partners to foster compliance with conservation easement terms and to promote excellent stewardship.
• Navigate rugged properties by 4WD and on foot, often alone, while following safety policy to minimize personal and organizational risk.
• In preparation for monitoring visits, conduct file research, update Salesforce Locate records, schedule landowner contact, conduct site visits and prepare monitoring reports using Apsona.
• Research municipal records such as tax assessor’s databases and keep property owner’s information up to date in Salesforce LOCATE.
• Utilize various spatial databases for desktop analysis and field work related to properties, including ArcMap, various GPS technologies and Upstream Tech’s Lens.
• Become proficient in reading and interpreting Conservation Easements and communicating its terms and conditions with landowners.
• Assist in the maintenance of Brinton Run Preserve including grass mowing, trail maintenance, and general upkeep of the property.

Other Duties as Assigned:

• Assist with responses to clients’ stewardship request and advisors’ requests for information.
• Develop various educational programs related to the historical and ecological context of Brinton Run Preserve and conduct outreach to local community.
• Contribute content to NALT’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, in addition to tracking analytics for posts.
• Review Forest Management Plans.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelors Degree in Geography, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Biological Sciences, Geology or other related field.
• Excellent people skills and ability to establish rapport with people from all walks of life and backgrounds.
• Ability to interact professionally with peers, all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
• Attention to detail and precision in observation and data collection.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent MS Office skills, primarily in MS Word, MS Excel.
• Ability to read, interpret & navigate various types of both digital and printed maps.
• Experience using GPS field equipment for navigation and importing GPS data into GIS.
• Self-organizing with ability to manage multiple priorities; strong organizational skills are required.
• Punctuality and ability to work a flexible work schedule, including 8hr+/day, 40hr+/wk as needed.
• Experience with aerial photography, remote sensing and spatial data analysis, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to navigate safely and alone on remote properties and over rough terrain, by vehicle or on foot (1 to 5 miles is typical).
• Ability to lift and carry 40 pound objects.
