Salary- $6,063.00 – $7,957.00 Monthly

Duties Include

  • Providing environmental and spatial epidemiologic support to ensure that DOH meets the requirements of Senate Bill 5141 from 2021 legislative session.
  • Proposing, conducting, and reporting on findings of epidemiological investigations and spatial analyses of environmental, exposure, demographic, and health data to identify associations between environmental exposures and disease outcomes within defined populations and/or geographic areas.
  • Preparing novel and standardized statistical analysis code using dedicated statistical software (R, SAS, and/or Python) to create and analyze enhanced datasets containing spatial and non-spatial attributes.
  • Conducting epidemiologic analyses of environmental health and exposure data to identify, characterize, and assess spatial and temporal trends of environmental exposures that contribute to disease and/or health disparities within defined populations and/or geographic areas using dedicated statistical software (R, SAS, and/or Python).
  • Investigating, analyzing, and preparing non-routine health, environmental, demographic, and geographic data for environmental public health research and action within the EPH and for data integration and display in environmental/public health surveillance systems (Environmental Health Disparities Map).
  • Providing specialized assessment skills and technical expertise in the spatial analysis of environmental public health data using dedicated statistical (R, SAS, and/or Python), spatial analysis (ArcGIS and/or Spatial GME), and data visualization (e.g. Tableau) software to address defined needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, geography, or other health-related science field.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience working in the field of epidemiology, which includes the analysis of environmental and/or public health data using dedicated statistical and spatial analytical software applications (R, SAS, ArcGIS, and/or Python) in the conduct of epidemiological analyses.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience using geographic information system (GIS) applications, specifically Esri’s ArcGIS, in the performance of spatial analyses and geovisualization of data.

 Desired Qualifications 

  • A Doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, geography, or related field.
  • Experience with data visualization for the display of public health and environmental data through maps, tables, and charts.
  • Knowledge of database design principles and experience performing complex statistical and spatial analyses to identify linkages between environmental exposures and health outcomes.
  • Knowledge of community systems, built environment, and geo-environmental factors that contribute to environmental public health outcomes are desired.
