Summary of Duties
Under general supervision, the SNAP-Ed Program Manager oversees the coordination, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of SNAP-Ed programs in Grays Harbor and Mason Counties. The SNAP-Ed Program Manager is responsible for supervising and managing staff to develop and implement a culturally sensitive nutrition education program that combines direct education with policy, system and environmental (PSE) change initiatives relating to healthy eating and active living among the limited-resource population in Grays Harbor and Mason Counties.
The SNAP-Ed Program Manager works closely with the SNAP-Ed state staff, other WSU Extension staff and faculty, the SNAP-Ed Implementing Agency, and community partners to ensure activities meet the requirements of the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Guidance for SNAP-Ed.
This position is part of WSU’s annual contract for SNAP-Ed, funded by the USDA FNS SNAP-Ed Program. This is a temporary position expected to end on 9/30/2023. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance and annual background check, the need for Extension to complete the project and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Related program experience could include public health, nutrition, education, family and consumer sciences, community development.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using oral, written, and listening skills.

Experience supervising staff and creating a positive and supportive work environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of MS Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) Adobe Acrobat and the ability to adapt to new technologies and techniques.

Ability to travel regionally and occasionally statewide.

Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional nights and weekends.

While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting requirements described in RCW 46.30.020 and RCW 46.29.090) and possess a valid driver’s license.

Employment is contingent upon passing a WSU background screening.

Must be able to obtain within 14 days of hire a valid Washington State Food Hander’s Permit.

Background Check: This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need. A background check will not be completed until an initial determination of qualification for employment has been made.
