Description

You are an experienced analyst who is energized by developing and evaluating long-term strategic goals and objectives for natural resource-based organizations. You are skilled at identifying, analyzing and monitoring global and regional trends that affect business trajectories using data from a variety of sources. You have a high attention to detail but are good at seeing the big picture and aren’t afraid to think outside the box. You are effective at communicating timely and relevant information to business customers.

We are a fast-moving team who is responsible for using evidence-based analytics to assess existing strategies, evaluate risks and opportunities, recommend revised or new strategies, evaluate competing business priorities, and provide recommendations on strategic direction to Weyerhaeuser’s Timberlands Leadership team.

In this role you will be a key contributor to the team and the business. You will work with partners across the business to develop collaborative working relationships. You will collect and analyze data to evaluate business performance and strategy rationale. You will develop scenarios to evaluate business tradeoffs and translate potential outcomes into recommendations delivered to a wide set of customers. 

This role will be based in Seattle, WA or Atlanta, GA.  Consideration will be given to other locations.

 

Senior Analyst Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the development of consistent business assumptions and metrics 
  • Collect, process, cleanse and organize raw data from various diverse datasets for use in analytical projects
  • Analyze data to evaluate business performance, business opportunities and strategy rationale
  • Identify and assess key business drivers and emerging opportunities and risks 
  • Synthesize and communicate findings to a wide internal audience

 

Qualifications

Experience: We place an emphasis on what prior experience our candidates bring to the table. For this role, you’ll need 4+ years of demonstrated analytic experience in a planning, market, or technical analysis environment.

Education: You have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with a quantitative emphasis such as Resource Economics, Business, Biology, or Forestry

Skills: To be successful in this role, you will have strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to work independently to organize and manage projects against set timelines

Technical Requirements: We need an individual who has a strong working knowledge in Microsoft office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI). 

Highly Valued:

  • Master’s degree in related field with quantitative emphasis such as resource economics, business, biology, forestry 
  • Forest industry operational experience 
  • Experience working with relational databases and file storage systems
  • Proficiency in query languages (SQL, Python) and data visualization tools (Power BI, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online)
  • Experience working with coding languages (R, Python) is preferred
  • GIS skills (e.g., ArcGIS)

What We Offer:

 

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $86,800 to $130,200 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary. 

 

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
