The mission of Science Moab is to uplift Southeast Utah by engaging community members with the science happening here. Our vision is that Southeast Utah be recognized for its contributions to scientific knowledge and its longstanding Indigenous knowledge. We work to ensure that local communities benefit educationally, economically, and environmentally from the science being done in the region. Science Moab seeks a VISTA to support the development, execution, and refinement of various nonprofit fundraising initiatives. Specifically, the VISTA will assist with: ordering and promoting merchandise; researching, writing, and managing grants; raising small and large individual gifts; pursuing corporate sponsorships and partnerships; developing, tracking, and maintaining effective donor relationships; creating and marketing a membership program; and generally building organizational capacity. The Financial Development VISTA will split time raising funds for each of Science Moab’s three programs (Outreach, School to Science, and Science Certified) as well as for the organization as a whole. Importantly, the Financial Development VISTA will help to strengthen the financial stability of programming aimed towards low-income and underrepresented youth and adults. While broad tasks and timelines have been developed for these initiatives, the Financial Development VISTA will be responsible for breaking down these milestones into more detailed, manageable components and schedules. With a great degree of independence, this position is dynamic, strategic, and creative, offering the unique opportunity to shape a popular local nonprofit for years to come.
