Salary– $76,676.00 – $87,630.00 Annually

Some of the duties include:

  •  Support the Salmon Recovery Manager in coordinating implementation of strategies in the updated Recovery Plan, including working with Partnership Boards, advisory groups, and other partners to ensure accountability and advising Partnership staff and the Salmon Recovery Council on strategies and actions to move forward in given years.

  • Support partners to elevate and address barriers to salmon recovery.
  • Apply adaptive management standards and best practices to products and processes associated with the Recovery Plan.
  • Align content with local watershed chapter updates, where applicable.
  • Participate in the internal Partnership matrixed salmon recovery team and advise the Salmon Recovery Manager and Executive Management on agency salmon recovery policy priorities.
  • Work across Partnership teams and programs, local watershed lead entities, and Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program (PSEMP) work groups to adaptively manage the Recovery Plan.
  • Implement vision and process for updates to local watershed chapters of the Recovery Plan.
  • Scope process for monitoring, reporting and adaptive management of the Recovery Plan. 
  • Support and guide the Adaptive Systems Lead and other Partnership staff in target-setting and the application of indicator data and assessments into local watershed recovery chapters. 
  • Work with the Salmon Monitoring Data Steward, Salmon Scientist, and other Partnership staff to ensure that the salmon habitat monitoring framework is responsive to the assessment questions needed to advance salmon recovery, implement the Recovery Plan, and coordinate with watershed lead entities to report on the data.
  • Support the Salmon Recovery Manager and Ecosystem Recovery Coordinators in managing updates to the remaining local watershed salmon recovery chapters, working with and advising Partnership staff in development of a results-based adaptation process for local recovery chapters, including clear linkages between metrics and evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain working partnerships with Partnership programs, other state agencies, local governments, tribes, salmon recovery partners, and other stakeholders and interested parties.
  • Support the Salmon Recovery Manager and PSAR Program Manager in representing the Puget Sound regional recovery organization at statewide salmon recovery forums and with Partnership Boards and advisory groups.

 

Qualifications

Required Experience, Competencies and Technical Skills (experience may be concurrent):

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in a natural science related field including working with local jurisdictions, tribes, and federal and state agencies in natural resources planning.

  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to provide critical analysis of plans and processes and provide timely, well considered recommendations
  • Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication skills
  • Adept at building and maintaining relationships with partners and Partnership staff. Able to work cooperatively and effectively with a diverse group of agencies, governments and stakeholders, scientists, planners, practitioners, and policy makers.
  • Proficient in project management, including leading project management with internal and external partners
  • Excellent experience in meeting deliverables in tight timeframes 
  • Familiarity with the Puget Sound salmon recovery system
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in natural resource management or related field and two years of professional experience or a bachelor’s degree and four years of professional experience
  • Experience in Open Standards or natural resource monitoring and adaptive management 
  • Experience in contract management and managing budgets
  • Knowledge of Endangered Species Act recovery planning
  • Knowledge of ecology and population biology of salmonids
  • Knowledge of the Puget Sound Action Agenda
  • Knowledge of the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan
