JOB SUMMARY

Performs technical work associated with right of way activities for the negotiation and acquisition of right of way for road construction and improvement of roads and utility projects. Responsibilities will include right of way cost estimates, fair market value appraisals, appraisal review, writing legal descriptions, title searches, acquisition documents, preparation, negotiations, and relocation assistance.

Reviews right of way and construction plans for accuracy and conformity to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) standards; conducts, or acquires, title searches to locate property owners; inspects affected property and identifies implications of County project on the property and/or structures. Assists the Maintenance Manager in determining right-of-way existence and need along existing county roads.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree in business, planning, or closely related field.
• Two (2) years of work experience as a right of way agent with previous related duties, such as property appraisal, right of way acquisition or management, title examination, and right of way analysis.
• Successful completion of International Right of Way Course 101. • Valid Washington State driver license.
• Notary Public Commission

Health Insurance – Regular full-time employees and their qualifying dependents are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Paid Leave – Sick leave, holidays, and vacation are provided in accordance with the County policy or union contracts. Vacation accrual rates increase at regular intervals based on length of service with the County.

Retirement Plan – All regular Mason County employees are enrolled in the Washington State Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS, PSERS or LEOFF). The County and employees contribute jointly to the plans.
