Salary– $47,250 – $55,125 USD

The Position

The Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting research and reporting on a variety of issues. A team-player with an attention to detail who loves challenges, learning new things, and having a positive impact on the planet is the ideal candidate. The position focuses on helping apply analytical approaches to research questions that underpin SRG’s projects for internal and external NGO clients. This is a remote position, with preference for locations on the West Coast of North America. This position reports to the Director of Research and Investigations.

This is an exempt full-time position with excellent benefits.  Salary is commensurate with experience and adjusted based on location, but will likely be within the range of $47,250 – $55,125 USD or $55,283 – $64,496 CAD.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Support research projects with data analysis and clear, elegant data visualizations
  • Support scalable research methodologies that create efficiencies across projects
  • Contribute to project and fundraising proposals
  • Contribute to project deliverables, communicate results, and support SRG outreach and research extension efforts

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in a field related to environmental research (preferred) or undergraduate degree with related experience
  • Demonstrated experience using R for data analysis and visualization
  • Experienced in building spreadsheet formulas
  • Experienced in conducting scientific literature reviews
  • Familiarity with one or more of SRG’s key focus areas e.g. deforestation-driver commodities, oil and gas, petrochemicals, supply chains, financial markets, and the environmental and social impacts of natural resources extraction
  • Demonstrated experience conducting analytical research, managing data, using statistics, creating models, and/or developing methodologies
  • A top notch writer, editor and communicator with fluency in English
