Community College Research Initiatives (CCRI) is seeking a Research Assistant to conduct a literature review on STEM community college transfer students. This literature review will play a key role in the capacity-building work of testing the feasibility of using sets of lower-division student learning outcomes (SLOs) as the basis of block transfer into engineering programs. The literature review will cover topics such as STEM courses and curricula and STEM transfer student populations. The specific questions to be covered in the literature review will be refined in the first weeks of the project. An example of these include:

● How have other two-year or four-year institutions revised their lower-division STEM pathway to include more emphasis on student learning outcomes? What process did they use, and did they seek input from other institutions during that process?

● For engineering students moving from 2-year to 4-year institutions, what factors support student retention and completion of baccalaureate degrees? What strategies are effective for underserved students (e.g., women, veterans, students of color, and low-income and first-generation students)?
