Our facility is located in Arlington, WA (1 hour north of Seattle). We are a rapidly growing pet wholesale distribution company seeking a hardworking, organized, and dedicated professional to join our team. We have been in business for over 20 years and are considered an essential business as we provide live and frozen feeders to pet stores, wildlife centers, and zoos. We also distribute the highest quality captive bred pets including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and tarantulas. This job is full time with salary ($40,000 – $55,000, DOE) plus significant bonuses

Responsibilities

1. Oversee the general care, feeding and watering, and record keeping for our snake, tarantula, and feeder roach colonies.

2. Manage and oversee reptile and invertebrate breeding colonies, sexing new hatchlings, and retiring animals within the colonies.

3. Receive animal deliveries: unpack and house new animals according to instructions.

4. Track room conditions for temperature, humidity, and other factors that affect the well-being of the animals within.

5. Train and oversee animal caretakers within the department to ensure that animal care protocols are followed.

6. Prepare weekly outgoing animal shipments: track departure and destination weather conditions, pack accordingly to ensure animal safety.

7. Tabulate weekly inventory and submit to sales team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline or equivalency of two years fulltime animal care experience. A demonstrated ability to supervise others and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Working knowledge of scientific techniques and procedures as well as the ability to make statistical calculations, analyze results, prepare reports and perform specialized tests.

Preferences

Background in biological sciences (animal science or similar field).

Experience in the management and breeding of rodents or other animals.

Ability to recognize and report common health problems.

Experience with data entry and creating data bases.

Leadership skills including training new personnel in animal handling and breeding
