Knowledgeable of Oregon High Desert plant relationships and ecology and of rangeland management principles and practices. Develop livestock grazing plans with knowledge of ecological site descriptions, carrying capacity determinations and AUMs. Experience conducting inventories and monitoring of condition and trend plots beneficial. Will work with livestock operations and have management duties associated with wild horses on the rangeland. Field work includes participation in all aspects of rangeland improvements including fencing, juniper removal, spring developments, etc.  Has, or will develop, excellent high desert plant identification skills. Will assist in developing restoration activities to improve rangeland condition, with possible supervision of restoration crews. Excellent communication skills deisired and experience working on Indian lands a plus. Location commutable from Bend, Redmond or Madras Oregon.

Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelors’ of Science Degree in Range Management, Ecology, or related Natural Resource field. Two years of working experience in rangeland restoration or management. Must work independently with little supervision. Operation of ATV/UTVs, rangeland drills, chainsaws and some farm equipment. Physically fit and able to traverse rough terrain.  Must have a valid state issued driver’s license and be insurable. Drug testing is mandatory upon selection. Salary with full benefits and 401k.
