Salary- $46,644.00 – $61,224.00 Annually

What you will do:

  • Develop and manage community outreach plans, communication plans or activities and public participation plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate or implement in-person or on-line workshops, conferences, seminars, public meetings and/or hearings and open houses.
  • Prepare and distribute educational outreach materials that includes newsletters, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, pamphlets, displays, etc.
  • Facilitate meetings.
  • Make oral presentations at public meetings or to various community groups.
  • Coordinate program information with various employees, managers, community leaders and the general public
  • Be computer savvy – have an ability to learn and proficiently use various publication programs.

Required Qualifications:

A total of Seven (7) years of experience and/or education combined as described below:

  • Professional level Experience: in environmental analysis or control, environmental planning, environmental education, community outreach, or communications activities.
  • Education: involving a major study in environmental, physical, or natural science, education, communications or closely related field.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Advanced skills in technical writing and editing.
  • This position requires someone who is computer savvy as there are a number of systems that must be utilized to create and maintain agency publications and information.
  • The position also requires an agency representative with a good ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of individuals and groups, and be able to function and tolerate a wide variety of public interactions without becoming personally involved or taking public comments personally.
  • Technical Knowledge: Be able to use data and information in a clear, rational, and thorough process to assess and understand issues, evaluate options, form accurate conclusions, and make decisions which are in compliance with the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA).
  • Project Management: Be able to accept full responsibility for all aspects of assigned projects, remaining in touch with site status and progress. Effectively direct and integrate all aspects of site work, ensuring that work progresses – achieving goals and objectives.
