Duties

This position is responsible for performing specialized and complex duties in real estate services, project and lease program management, property valuation, appraisal, and audit.  The incumbent will apply advanced technical knowledge conducting real estate transactions requiring review, analyses, and alternatives; negotiating and effecting less than fee property agreements, lease, easement and partial sales of interest.  

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the statewide management real estate program’s Real Property Agreement (RPA) program.
  • Independently coordinates, performs, and manages specialized and complex duties in real estate services relating to vacant, residential, commercial, recreational, and/or industrial properties statewide for property transactions including site inspections, negotiations, appraisals, document preparation and execution.
  • Conduct property inspections for compliance with terms and conditions of the contract.
  • Gain compliance on any outstanding contract terms or conditions.
  • Arranges, conducts, and participates in public meetings and hearings that are either required by law or are necessary for property notification to the public of land transactions. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, real estate, economics, accounting, or a closely related field.*
  • Two (2) years of experience in real property appraising; capital project contracting; property negotiations; public property management; title examination; relocation assistance; or selling, leasing, or buying real estate.
  • Valid unrestricted (except for corrective lenses) driver’s license.

*Additional qualifying experience may be substituted year for year for education

DESIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience monitoring contracts for compliance.
  • Knowledge of Washington State real estate laws and regulations.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Completed educational course work in environmental, physical, or natural sciences, planning or other related fields.
