Hourly Wage Range: Hourly: $21 (with benefits) – $25 (without benefits)

Organization and Location: This position is assigned to the William D. Ruckelshaus Center at WSU Downtown Seattle (or other location as assigned). The Center is a joint effort of Washington State University (hosted and administered by WSU Extension) and the University of Washington (hosted by the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance). Its mission is to help parties involved in complex public policy challenges in the State of Washington and the Pacific Northwest tap university expertise to develop collaborative, durable and effective solutions. Basic Functions: The Project Coordinator is an early- to mid-career professional who provides wide-ranging support, as a member of one or more project teams and with guidance from project leads/managers, including providing research, writing, meeting logistics and other types of coordination support for the Center’s projects. Position requires working with diverse individuals, groups and situations. The employee must have the social skills to deal respectfully with people of differing views and abilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Coordination

  1. Actively engage on project teams that design and facilitate collaborative public policy processes. Provide administrative support including, but not limited to, organizing and attending project team meetings, drafting emails, and tracking project tasks; 
  2. Perform complex scheduling of meetings and interviews, providing technical support for virtual meetings, research and provide specific information for meetings, prepare agendas, take meeting notes and draft summaries, create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports; 
  3. Develop and conduct complex project research, data gathering, analysis, and writing; 
  4. Assist project leads with the execution of situation assessments, potentially including interviewing participants and providing assistance to analyze findings; 
  5. Assist in communicating and coordinating with project leads and/or researchers to contribute in the preparation of reports, communications to project participants, and memos for a diverse audience to establish a common information base upon which the parties can reach agreement.

Other Administrative Duties— as assigned (i.e. attend Staff and project meetings)

• Most of the work is conducted in an office and/or virtual environment, depending on COVID-19 considerations, but interactions in other workplaces are periodically necessary, including local and regional travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Position requires three (3) years of experience relevant to project coordination, multi-party dispute resolution, and/or social science research. Any combination of relevant education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis, up to two (2) years.

• Intermediate or advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS and PowerPoint), Zoom, Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat, and browsing applications.

• Demonstrated writing and communication skills.

• Communicate well both orally and in writing.

• Be a self-starter and proactive, anticipating and acting on needs of Center staff and partners

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree.
