Who We Want

The Outdoor Retreat Director will be responsible for most aspects of the Carson Retreat, located outside of Tekamah, NE. With direction from the Retreat Director, this individual will host groups as well as coordinate all details including agendas, transportation, food, and hunt supplies. The Assistant Retreat Director will also ensure all visitors follow explicit guidelines when it comes to hunting and safety.

What To Expect

  • Primary responsibilities will be running the Carson Retreat including obtaining supplies, food, hunting licenses, liability waivers, coordinating cleanings, creating agendas, etc.
  • Main host for visitors/groups, and lead hunts as well
  • Ensure all guests sign the appropriate hunting waivers and maintain signed copies
  • Assist guests with obtaining the appropriate licenses and permits.
  • Maintain all retreat and land equipment
  • Dog kennel upkeep and maintenance and watch over and take care of hunting dogs
  • Complete chores with larger livestock, will include some weekends
  • Assist Carson Associate Engagement Committee with any stakeholder events at Retreat
  • Back up farming with Carson Farms as needed 
  • Carson will support and is open to creative business opportunities such as breading & training hunting dogs

What You Need

  • Ability to lead the day to day of the Retreat, work with groups hosts, and coordinate all aspects of group events
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing demands
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment (skid loader, tractor-planter, etc.)
  • Knowledge/experience with training hunting dogs preferred
  • Gun safety, shooting mechanics, gun malfunction troubleshooting experience
  • Approachable, accessible and helpful to all guests
  • Effective communication and verbal skills
  • Travel required
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds or greater
  • Some hunt dates might be scheduled over the weekend so overseeing/hosting guests on these weekends will be expected
  • Be located around Tekamah area for a varying schedule
