Responsibilities
- Responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and coordinating matters involving recreation planning, development, and use. Serves as a technical advisor for an outdoor recreation program.
- Coordinates with managers, planners, and resource specialists to identify recreation program requirements and resource needs on a local scale and develop long and short-term outdoor recreation plans to address needs.
- Oversee the operation of public use sites, permit programs, concessionaire operations, facilities, etc. It may also conduct outreach to promote recreational opportunities on public land.
- Recommend new signage, brochures, displays, and other public information materials, and/or the construction of new recreation facilities and structures. Identify trends and patterns in the development and management of recreation resources.
- Analyze and evaluate services, projects, programs, and/or functions of one or more Outdoor Recreation Programs. Conduct monitoring and/or inventory studies and surveys.
- Identify data gaps and recommend strategies to collect required data. Enter, manipulate, update, and maintain data in automated systems according to recreation program standards.
- Assess the effect of recreation on natural and cultural resources. Prepare and/or compile charts, graphs, and reports.
