As an Operations & Policy Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department with policy analysis, rulemaking, legislative matters, and ADA coordination. What you will do:
As an Operations & Policy Analyst 2, you’ll be on the front lines of operations and policy analysis, policy management, project management, and ADA coordination support, including the following duties:
- Research, evaluate and interpret regulations and operational business practices.
- Suggest ideas to improve and enhance business practices such as revision or development of operating procedures, policies and training.
- Identify agency’s risk areas due to lack of policy research and recommend solutions.
- Support and monitor legislative activity, review bills and work with agency staff to evaluate impact to programs and operations.
- Coordinate and manage public records, file systems, and policy file system.
- Ensure public records and forms comply with programs regulations and objectives.
- Ensure proper dissemination of new policy or policy revisions.
- Assist ADA coordinator and collaborate with managers agency-wide to develop objectives, goals and plans that align with agency’s ADA statute, rule, policies and procedures.

- Experience writing, editing and revising policies, procedures, guidelines and reports.
- Skill in communicating and collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds or diverse points of view, including both expert stakeholders and the general public.
- Skill in researching from a variety of sources and analyzing information in order to develop materials, answer questions, clarify issues, and resolve problems for agency staff or members of the public.
- Skill in managing projects including attention to detail, tracking timelines, project goals and communicating the status of a project to a variety of people.
- Experience performing technical or program support functions using spreadsheets, databases, and other software.
- Skill in serving as a member of a team of policy staff to provide excellent customer service to agency staff in a flexible and adaptive manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years professional-level experience in evaluative, analytical and planning work.
- OR any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.
Special Requirements:
- Have a criminal history check and driving record check that meets OPRD criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
- Posses a valid driver’s license at time of hire and throughout employment.
