Salary– $18.00 – $22.00 per hour

Primary Duties: Assist in a variety of projects covering amphibian surveys, monitoring riparian plots, leave tree surveys, fish distribution surveys in headwater streams, sediment runoff sampling on forest roads and RFID antenna installs. Projects will be located in both Washington and Oregon. Position will be mostly field-based. Work conditions are often strenuous and require traversing steep forested terrain in all weather conditions. Positions also require the ability to lift heavy objects overhead and/or manipulate heavy antennas in flowing water among other tasks. Map reading, aerial photo interpretation and orienteering skills will be used on a daily basis. Positions are based out of Tumwater, WA but four day, overnight travel weeks will be required. Company vehicles are provided for travel, and lodging and dinner costs are paid while away from the Tumwater operations base.

Other Duties: Technicians may be asked to assist with other ongoing field projects currently underway.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a degree in the natural sciences or be actively seeking a degree in a related field. The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to follow strict sampling protocols and be proficient in the collection of scientific data. Map reading skills, accurate interpretation of aerial photography and orienteering skills are required. Prior professional experience in the fields of fisheries, wildlife, forestry, or environmental disciplines is highly desirable.

Compensation: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour plus overtime, however, rate is negotiable depending on experience.

Duration: Approximately five months (May 10 – September 30, 2022). End date is subject to change depending on project duration.
