Salary– $58,704.00 – $78,900.00 Annually

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, land use planning, natural resource management, conservation biology, geography, forest management, or closely related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent.
  • Two years of experience managing public lands set aside for conservation purposes
  • .Experience translating scientific information for diverse audiences; knowledge and skill in public relations and the principles of negotiation
  • Experience writing and managing multiple grant projects, multiple priorities and complex budgets.
  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Position requires both office (60%) and field work (40%). Duty assignments will primarily be in the Northeast Region, however, depending on the needs of the Region, Division, or Agency assignments may occur outside of the Northeast Region. Incumbent must be able to traverse harsh uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
  • Frequent overnight travel is required for management and oversight of the Region’s natural areas. Occasional travel outside of the Region is also required for temporary assignments, meetings, training sessions, and fire assignments.
  • A valid driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
  • Employees of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. This position is based in an office/fieldwork setting and requires in-person attendance/interactions with no option for full-time telework. Desired Qualifications: 

  • Working experience managing volunteers.
  • Skills utilizing GIS mapping software.
  • Experience interpreting land use planning laws and regulations.
  • Experience forming collaborative partnerships, finding workable solutions, and negotiating agreements with diverse stakeholders.
