Your Position with TNC
The Marketing Manager is responsible for identifying and developing brand and marketing strategies, and expanding The Nature Conservancy in California’s storytelling to new levels of emotion and effectiveness. This role will drive new formats and “daylight” compelling and moving stories across TNC that support our key brand positioning and empower us to expand our “market share” in the conservation space and put TNC CA “top of mind” with donors and potential donors. To accomplish this, this person will have a keen creative sense and understand a wide variety of media and storytelling platforms.
The Marketing Manager will also be a hands-on manager of all content and creative work across all communication channels, including web, newsletters, social media, and events. This role manages and implements strategic marketing programs to build greater brand awareness, engage major donors and stakeholders, influence conservation action, and achieve fundraising goals. This role manages all content and creative work, including newsletters, events, web content, social media etc.
The Marketing Manager manages all aspects of specific marketing programs or projects and ensures that the creative work reflects the positioning, platform and voice of organization’s marketing objectives, and meets client/internal partner needs. This position works closely with various constituents including senior staff, field offices, department and division staff, vendors, and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of projects that contribute to a positive service relationship. The Marketing Manager may coordinate and manage budgets for the initiative/program and may oversee the day-to-day tasks of the program.
The Marketing Manager will be an energizing driver of innovation and creativity overall within our Marketing and Communication steam, and earn the confidence and partnership of key stakeholders across the organization including conservation programs (Oceans. Cities, Water, Land), External Affairs, and Development.
They will also be fluent in content testing and analytics, and will have a firm grasp on how we need to pivot our strategies and content “on the fly” as we learn what content is resonating.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing client and account relationships.
- Experience implementing, and managing multiple complex projects.
- Experience negotiating agreements.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
- Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
- Experience leading in a team-based environment with internal and/or external partners.
- Experience applying marketing principles on projects/programs.
- Experience managing a budget.
- Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.
- Experience conceiving and writing creatively for various audiences from technical information.
- Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner.
- Detailed knowledge of procedures and terms in relevant field of experience.
