Under supervision of the Research Coordinator this position is the lead field technician for the Research &
Monitoring Program of the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR). Primary duties include collecting and reporting data for the longterm SystemWide Monitoring Program/SWMP (water quality, water nutrients and meteorological data), and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for the program. The technician will also be involved in other projects relevant to SINERR objectives. These duties may include data synthesis, field data collection beyond SWMP (e.g., biological monitoring), and the maintenance and operation of small vessels in coastal waters. The technician will also be expected to monitor lab inventory and procure replacement equipment and supplies when needed. Most work will be on a limited access island with daily ferry transportation provided. The technician should expect at least 45% of work to take place in the field outside of an office. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. No state housing on island is available for this position.
