Job Summary

Kelsey Creek Farm is seeking an individual who can embrace the Departments Vision which states, “In Bellevue everyone can connect to each other and to nature through experiences that help them to live, grow, and thrive”. The ability to create programs that are inclusive, affordable, equitable and accessible allowing mostly youth to engage in play in a unique historic farm setting. You will provide coordination and supervision of comprehensive programs, events, and services at the Kelsey Creek Farm. The Farm and Park is operated by the City of Bellevue.

You must engage well with patrons of all ages and backgrounds, possess good computer technology skills, be detailed oriented and willing to work a schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Experience in the development and delivery of recreation programs and events for all ages, especially for toddlers to teens is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops, plans, promotes, implements, and reviews a wide range of community programs and events. This includes programing based on farm animals, agriculture and history of this site.

  • Ability to teach and lead programs that incorporates Kelsey Creek Farm animals

  • Conducts research to stay current on recreation program development and management.

  • Develops and monitors program budgets and tracks revenue and expenditures; writes and monitors grants, funding requests and miscellaneous proposals.

  • Assists with the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates program staff and volunteers.

  • Coordinates and works with volunteers and citizens in providing recreational programs and project enhancements to the stie.

  • Recruits, trains, supervise and evaluates contracted program instructors.

  • Markets programs and events using the most current social media to reach a diverse audience.

  • Assists in planning and implementation of events, including but not limited to, the Bellevue Family 4th.

  • Develops public relations marketing strategies, presentations, and promotional materials.

  • Drafts memos, briefs, contracts for services, and other correspondence as needed.

  • Interacts and collaborates with other recreation and service providers, sponsors and City personnel on projects and programs at Kelsey Creek Farm and other City facilities.

  • Performs office duties including answering the phone, registering participants, copying, completing forms, and providing customer service, as needed.

  SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

  • Reports to and works under the supervision of the Kelsey Creek Farm Services Supervisor.

  • Exercises supervision over partially benefited employees, volunteers.  In the and in the absence of the Community Services Supervisor and the site.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in education, public administration, social sciences related field(s).?

  • Four or more years of progressively responsible related experience in human services, programming recreation activities or a related area.?

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.?

  • First Aid and CPR, Occupational Blood Born Pathogens and Defensive Driving certification preferred, required if hired.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public sector organization and program operations.

  • Knowledge of project management, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and problem solving.?

  • Ability to follow the City regulations relevant to the program area as well as departmental policies and procedures.?

  • Experience in recreation and agricultural program development and implementation.

  • Ability to relate and work with a broad and varied population, skill in conflict resolution and customer service.

  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to ambiguous situations.?

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

  • Ability to supervise the work of staff including coordinating, assigning, monitoring, and evaluating work, hiring, training, motivating and disciplining staff.?

  • Ability to analyze and prepare budgets, set program fees, develop schedules, reports, policy and procedures manuals, and correspondence.?

  • Ability to operate a computer and use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, registration, and scheduling programs utilized by the City.

  • Knowledge of applicable information technology relative to service area.?

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with department recreation staff and partnership organizations.

  • Ability to teach diverse groups and individuals on a variety of farming and agricultural subjects. Ability to use site resources such as farm animals, garden and history for teaching classes, activities, events, and day camps

  • Knowledge of recreation site management, including operations and maintenance.
