Salary: $5,199.00 – $6,989.00 Monthly 
Positions with permanent duty stations in King County receive an additional 5% added to their monthly base salary. The salary listed in this announcement reflects the additional 5%.

This entry-level position works closely with the IT-Journey level position and is responsible for computer hardware, software, inventory, network, and employee support within the South Puget Sound Region. This includes the Region Office in Enumclaw, WA and 12 work center offices disbursed throughout the Region.

 

Duties

Responsibilities:
This position assists with LAN, phone, and desktop support initiatives such as infrastructure refreshes, service and network availability, business continuity, deployment of critical business hardware applications, and availability of business communication systems that may significantly impact region operations and public service.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s Degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or related field. May substitute 2 years of experience for education.
  • 1-year desktop support experience which may include board level, hard drives, video and network adapters, and disparate network configurations. All experience below can be gained congruently.
  • Experience providing customer support, including troubleshooting personal computer, network, and/or mobile device issues.
  • 1 year experience deploying, maintaining, and supporting Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 and Windows 10 in an enterprise environment.
  • 1 year of recent experience deploying software packages both manually and using automated tools, SCCM preferred.
  • 1 year of experience troubleshooting Apple, Windows, and Android devices.
  • Ability to use various GPS devices and associated software and experience providing GPS user support.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
  • Work is performed in the SPS Region in an office environment and occasionally in an outdoor setting. Travel to work centers located within the region, up to 50 miles away from the duty station. Exposure to potential shock hazards. Working overhead and on a ladder. Accessing and checking data lines in tight spaces including attics, basements, etc.
  • The position requires travel on an occasional basis to field offices, and field sites and to attend out-of-region meetings.
  • A valid unrestricted driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting an enterprise environment of 100 workstations or more.
  • Proven ability with computer applications such as Microsoft 365 / MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective organizational skills and follow-through on assignments.
  • Providing training to users and developing instructional/training materials.
  • Ability to clearly describe steps for user solutions verbally and in writing, assist with user guide creation for processes identified as new or causing issues.
  • Customer service training.
  • Ability to be innovative and forward-thinking in a fast-paced, changing technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, test, install, upgrade, and maintain PCs, laptops and server hardware, VPN software and connections, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 2016 / Microsoft 365, video teleconferencing, security system, network, printer, and other hardware driver software, components, and peripherals such as printers, monitors, and projectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex multi-server and multi-application problems, networking and communication problems, etc.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, correcting, and documenting PC hardware and software problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, understand complex specifications, and implement them for staff use and process automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex IT functions in non-technical language for users.
  • Organization and documentation skills.
  • Assess information technology needs, and evaluate and recommend new products and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and train staff in the use of the full suite of Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Outlook.
