Summary
You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNITY PLANNER/BIOLOGIST/PHYS SCIENTIST with NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Responsibilities
- You will plan, develop, coordinate, and monitor environmental projects so as to assure compliance with applicable DoD, Navy, and supported command objectives, standards, and requirements.
- You will prepare proposed responses to congressional inquiries, audit reports, inspection reports, press releases, and public concerns,
- You will provides advisory services on specific problems, projects, programs, and functions in geographic information systems in the Environmental Program.
- You will apply knowledge in GIS and applied environmental sciences to evaluate existing data sets and identify deficiencies for future correction
Travel Required
Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for this position.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

GS-0020, Professional Community Planning Series:
A. I have successfully completed a community planning degree, or a degree in a related discipline such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance.
OR
B. I have a combination of education and experience where I have successfully completed a community planning degree, or a degree in a related discipline such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration and have one (1) year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner.
OR
C. I have a combination of education and experience where my courses were equivalent to a major in community planning , urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration; or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the listed disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
GS-0401, Professional Biological Science Series:
A. I have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position.
OR
B. I have a combination of education and experience in one of the above majors that includes at least 24 semester hours in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience demonstrates that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four year course of study with a major as described above.
GS-1301, Professional Physical Science Series:
A. I have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. I have a combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
